Danielle Angel

Research Associate

Danielle Angel serves San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance as a Research Associate in Recovery Ecology. She currently works on the Burrowing Owl Project, where she assists in research on southern California’s burrowing owls by collecting field data with direct observations and trail cameras, and by constructing artificial burrows.

Danielle is excited to be involved with the establishment of a new burrowing owl breeding node in San Diego County through the translocation of owls from sites where their burrows are threatened by human development.

Danielle previously worked for two other Recovery Ecology projects, the San Clemente Loggerhead Shrike Breeding Program and the California least tern and western snowy plover field crew at Camp Pendleton. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and minor in Biology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and she discovered her love of birds while doing wildlife rehabilitation during college. Nature is Danielle’s greatest source of fascination and beauty, and she relishes being outside.
