Emily Gray

Emily Gray serves San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance as a Senior Research Associate in Recovery Ecology. In this role, she is studying the effects of artificial light on foraging behavior of Pacific pocket mice and San Bernardino kangaroo rats. In the past, Emily volunteered with SDZWA on the Stephens' kangaroo rat and Los Angeles project mouse projects. Through this work, she gained experience with several species of endangered heteromyid rodents.

Emily earned her bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology from Humboldt State University, with an emphasis in wildlife management and conservation. For her senior thesis at Humboldt State, she conducted a study on trapping success in relation to trap placement/orientation on meadow vole runways. In the future, Emily hopes to earn a master’s degree in ecology-based research. She loves to scuba dive in southern California and wants to visit as many salt and fresh water dive sites as she can.
